Karate in Durban Overport/Morningside
Karate in Cape Town

RECORDING YOUR CLASSES: - Before entering, class please enter your information into the computer. If in doubt ask the receptionist what to do.
If the computer is not working enter your name on the attendance sheet. Include your student number and the number of classes you will be attending.
When you go for promotion the number of classes you have taken is considered and if you have not been signing in you may not qualify for your next belt.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR PERSONAL PROPERTY: - Remember to remove your shoes, hat and coat before stepping on the training floor. Take them with you to locker
room. Do not leave them out front. You may not leave articles overnight or between classes and please lock up all valuables whilst you are taking class. We cannot be responsible for items lost or stolen in the locker room or in any area of the dojo.

CLEANLINESS: - Please keep yourself and your Gi clean. We all join in cleaning the training area and picking up after ourselves. An attitude of personal responsibility and respect for the dojo is an important aspect of your training.

WHEN LATE FOR CLASS: - If for any reason you are late for class you must follow the same procedure as always. There are no cutting corners. Sign in your membership number at reception and get changed. After you have changed follow these steps:

1. Step out to the dojo floor, bow and say OSU to the direction of Hanshi, Shihan, Kyoshi, Sensei, Senpai, the shin zen, etc.
2. Sit down near the door on your knees and mokuso (close your eyes).
3. When the instructor tells you to open your eyes, say OSU and begin to do push-ups.
4. After push-ups quickly join the class to stretch or if class has already begun, stretch quickly on your own.

ALWAYS PLAN TO BE AT THE DOJO 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO CLASS SO THAT YOU HAVE TIME TO WARM UP PROPERLY AND IN CASE YOU ARE DELAYED, YOU ARE NOT LATE FOR CLASS!!

YOUR MEMBERSHIP TAG AND YOUR PAYMENTS: - Please show your tag at the desk each time you come to the dojo. You cannot take class without it. There is a penalty fee of R 15.00 if you do not have your tag and still want to take class. If you lose your tag, it will cost you R 75.00 for a new one. We are not looking to raise income from these fees but rather to encourage you to take care of your tag and bring it with you.

PLEASE BE SURE THAT YOUR FEES ARE PAID UP: - You must be currently paid up before you take class. If you have a special situation, see the desk staff. The receptionists are not responsible for making any exceptions. If you are due you must pay before class, not after class. This is true even if you are late for class. We have no contracts and you are only obliged to pay for one month in advance. Please keep track of when you are due and be prompt in your payment.

NO REFUNDS OR CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN:- We must maintain a strict credit policy to keep our costs down and to keep our tuition rates as low as possible. It is part of our training as traditional karate students to maintain good communication between ourselves and the school and its instructors. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Should you join during the month, you will only be expected to pay the pro-rata rate for the current month and three months thereafter. Current members' fees fall due on the first of the month following the month last paid for.

TUITION RATES: - We have always tried to adjust our tuition rates and fees to both meet our expenses and to offer our karate students a reasonable fee. Our rates are still among the lowest of any major reputable karate school. No one offers a more flexible schedule, number of classes or as experienced a staff as Ken To Fude No Karate Ryu. However, without strict enforcement of existing rate schedules it is difficult to meet our expenses and overheads\. Classes are available seven days a week and you can come as often as you like with no extra charges.

WE HAVE FOUR TUITION RATES FROM WHICH YOU CAN CHOOSE

1 Month, 3 Months, 6 Months or 12 Months

Your payment affords you the opportunity to train as often as you like at no extra charge. You also have a choice of joining the fully equipped gym. Karate members get a concessionary rate. Please check with the desk staff. (Half the normal rate)

INQUIRE AT THE FRONT DESK ABOUT FAMILY DISCOUNTS AS WELL AS DISCOUNTS FOR PAYING FOR MORE THAN 1 MONTH AT A TIME. WE ALSO OFFER KICK BOXING, FULL CONTACT AND SPECIAL CONDITIONING MEDITATION AND SELF DEFENCE CLASSES. MAKING UP CLASSES

It does not matter how many classes you take, as long as you record them. However if you miss classes you have to try and make up within the month or the term you have paid. Leave of absence must be in writing and must be for a full month from the first day of the month. December fees and fees for the month of ramaadhaan must be paid in full. Leave of absence does not apply to any of the two months.
